About Deborah Birnbaum LCSW-R
Deborah takes a compassionate approach to treating clients with a history of traumatic experience. As a former director of a domestic violence program, Deborah worked with survivors of domestic abuse, advocated for related policy and community services, and helped women navigate the Family Court system. Deborah has practiced in the mental health field for more than twenty years with diverse populations, including service with inpatient, residential treatment, and psychiatric emergency programs. She provides her clients with a safe, productive, and empathetic environment that is tailored to individual needs. Deborah’s clinical practice focuses upon helping children, adolescents, and adults with relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety disorders, work/life balance, and depression. Her approach is collaborative and encourages clients to be assertive, authentic, and aware of patterns of self-deception. Deborah received her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University and has completed postgraduate training in Couples Therapy, Gestalt Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
